FC9 Install issues on Acer Desktop
I have a dual core Intel machine, M1640 and I can not get the FC9 to install at all.
First it pauses for about 2 minutes on Waiting for Hardware to Initialize. Then it continues to the next step. It asks me to Choose a language and it stops completely. I have tried both the I386 and the X64 versions. Any suggestions? Is the h/w too new perhaps? DO I need to go to FC10? |
You seem to having a problem with SATA.
When you boot add the parameter all_generic_ide to the kernel line Post h/w SPECS |
how do I add the parameter to the boot process?
It flashes a screen quickly so I can't do an interactive install. |
problem solved it appears
I went into the cmos and disabled the ACPI and the system is now booting.
Thanks for listening and your tip. |
There is no need to disable it in the bios.
Computer boots Press esc on the boot screen press e highlight the line starting with 'kernel...' boot-time things are inserted at the end of this line. You must actually edit grub.conf to make them permanent |
I was able to boot and press e to get to the menu.
I edited the kernel line and was able to boot. Apparently, my problem is my LCD monitor. It is not flexible on the re-fresh rate and did not work at all. Once I connect my IBM CRT, it showed a display and was able to continue without problems. Thanks. Nick |
