fc8 archive manager makes bloated archives
 

Hullo All,
I used the fc8 archive manager for the first time and made a .tar archive of a dir which was 1.7 MB and contained 14 files. The resulting archive ended up at about 3.5 MB. I have tried this a few times with similar results.
I copied the dir over to another system (RISCOS) and made a tar archive which was about 1.8 MB.
Is the fc8 archive manager broken?
Has anyone else had similar problems and if so is there a solution?

Sorry, it has been my mistake.
There was a hidden dir which contained about 1.8 MB, and which didn't transfer accross to the other system.
Must be a severe case of domestic blindness, as I 'thought' I had checked for that!
