FC6 freezing

I'm using FC 6. There is a strange problem. While surfing internet FC 6 is freezing. I have disable images from firefox. For now i can surfing sites well.

But i can't discover what cause this image problem. I was installed modem driver. Is it cause this problem or is this a bug ? Also i have check log file there is a warning like below :

localhost kernel: general protection fault: 0000 [1] SMP

How can i fix ?

Perhaps you are using the xen kernel?

uname -a

What kind of modem do you have and which driver did you install?

If you are using the free driver from linuxant, then your modem is restricted to 14k4 ... i.e. quite slow. Web sites that have a lot of graphical content will take a long time to load.

However... this should not chew into resources so much you cannot do anything at all. Is it the entire desktop that freezes or just firefox?

Have you tried a site with only a wee bit of graphics like LQ? Or http://wiki.linux.net.nz/

Yes, it is very very slow. I realise now.

Entire desktop freezes. I have to restart computer. As you said some web site opens well but another sites like hotmail are cause freezing.

As i can understand modem driver causes this problem. Right?

hotmail freezes? I had something similar where emails from amazon would cause evolution to hang op taking everything with it.

I'd try it with another modem - borrow an external (serial for preference) one. You'll want a better modem anyway.
