I have a freaky problem with FC6.
Every time I insert a audio CD, the desktop displays wavy lines and the PC freezes. The only thing I can do is power cycle to reboot.

If I stop KDE's media manager service. I can insert a audio cd and xine & kscd plays it just fine.

I unchecked the media manager service from startup options in service manager (within control center) but media manager starts any how.

What is causing this behavior and how can I fix this freezing issue. I have configured Mythtv on this box and would like to be able to play audio cds via mythtv without freezing the pc

Asus M2NPV-VM
1 GB RAM
AMD 64 3200
Segate 250 GB HD
Sony DVD/DVD-RW

Nvidia 9629 installed from atrpms

I am clueless, but I am joining the thread to see the resolution... Does this happen with all CD;s?

Thanks. It only happens on all audio cds. DVDs, data cds work fine.

Just to rule out hardware issues... I took a another hard drive and installed windows xp pro, audio cd play just fine no lock ups or freezes.

I even tried FC5.....same problem. And it is not on KDE only. Gnome desktop has the same problem. This tells me it is a linux related issue. I have not tried any other distros other than fedora.

It is so easy to setup mythtv on Fedora... that is why I wanted to use FC6. I have two other Mythtv boxes running FC6 with out any issues.

I have exactly the same problem.
My Machine is IBM, my distro Debian Etch.
