FC6 USB issues

Las Friday I upgraded FC6 over FC5. Everything ran smoothly except for the kernel issue with anaconda (it installs version i586 instead of i686), which causes problems with upgrades and some drivers.

However my current issue is with my USB devices. I though it was an automount issue since my external HDD and flash drive were not detected nor mounted, but I now realized it is also an issue with my USB mouse.

executing
Code:
dmesg
keeps sending out the following:

Code:
hub 1-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 1. Maybe the USB
 cable is bad?
Any ideas to what needs to be done to enable USB?
Thanks.

I too have a similar problem. I cannot seem to mount the flash drive. Need a fix

I will check bugzilla, and if there is no entry, I will create one.

did you check if your kernel usb module is loaded? do a
Code:
su
/sbin/lsmod | grep hcd
see if you get anything maybe? If not do a
Code:
su
/sbin/modprobe ehid_hcd
/sbin/modprobe uhid_hcd
/sbin/modprobe ohid_hcd
and try again?

Question

hi

I got the following message:
/sbin/lsmod | grep hcd

ehci_hcd 34389 0
ohci_hcd 24281 0
uhci_hcd 26705 0
Then I went for

/sbin/modprobe ehid_hcd
FATAL: Module ehid_hcd not found.
# /sbin/modprobe uhid_hcd
FATAL: Module uhid_hcd not found.
# /sbin/modprobe ohid_hcd
FATAL: Module ohid_hcd not found.

This is my case.
The HAL daemon isnt running. Im unable to start it. So any solution to this??

Deepak

motherboard is an Intel DG965WD. Everything but the Marvell controller works, I had to use "all-generic-ide" switch to load and run FC6. I do get a usb error when linux first boots, but i thought that was normal. How do i get usb keys to mount? I loaded the ntfs kmod and when i plug in a firewire hard disk it will auto mount, all i want is the same thing.

funny thing is that all my linux (fc6) machines have this problem

USB seems to be working, see below.

A few things that I would do.

a) see if your bios on the mother board is up to date. (Intel is good about this). I would choose the linux* option for bios update, check the number and then check for other manufacturers. I had great success with linux*.

Then I would check the bios settings to confirm that the usb setting is to include both current and legacy settings.

Try those two, and good luck.
