FC5 on a Dell Inspiron 6400 - wireless help

A little about my system:

Dell Inspiron 6400
Dual Core 1.66GHz
1GB DDR 533MHz shared channel SDRAM
ATI Radeon x1300 128MB
WSXGA+ LCD screen (1680x1050 native resolution)
60GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive (20GB part for linux)
Intel® PRO 3945 and Dell 350 Bluetooth wireless cards

Its a brand spankin new laptop with a brand spankin new install of Fedora Core 5. My purpose for this thread is getting my wifi to work, but I'll volunteer this - right out of the box, the install is up and running with these issues I need to fix:

WIFI
I've read a lot. Tons of info out there on the intel 2200, but not so much on my intel 3945. FC5 appears not to know I have a wifi card. The only sign of life I see comes from lspci:
Quote:

s0b:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Unknown device 4222 (rev 02)
I've seen everything from "install a few rpms" to "rebuild the kernel and install a couple dozen rpms". I'm not up for experimentation with that stuff. I need to be spoon fed. This site has detailed, but not-rpm-friendly, steps which I'd prefer to avoid: http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/INSTALL

I'm tempted to dream up a 3945 version of these steps: http://fedoranews.org/cms/node/478 but I haven't quite made that leap and I'd have no clue what versions of rpms to choose.

Say, this yum thing is new to me. Too good to be true? Don't suppose I could "yum make_wifi_go". :-)

Someone, anyone, please help me out with the wifi.

Graphics:
I don't know what resolution is running now, but it isn't widescreen. The screen is squished (stretched to fit widescreen). I tried editing my xorg.conf file to have the right resolution, but it seems to have done nothing. Perhaps KDE is messing it up because right-click on desktop -> configure desktop -> display shows only 4:3 resolutions and no widescreen resolutions to choose from.

2D and 3D performance is sluggish. I can watch windows redraw when I move them around. GL screensavers are real slow. Here's a clue from lspci:
Quote:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device 7149
I see there's a lot of info on getting ATI drivers to work. I'll explore this later.

Sound
Don't know what kind of sound chip I have, but I've got something (Win XP plays sounds). FC5 sound doesn't work at all. I've tried muting and unmuting stuff, but not much else. lspci says:
Quote:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
I haven't tried to fix this yet.

Mouse (touchpad
Here's my only success at tweaking things so far. I used this guy's procedure to turn off that touch-to-click "feature" that drives me batty: http://copland.udel.edu/~doke/dell_d810/
