Fc5- No Gui Interface With Ati For Viewsonic Lcd Display


hi all,

i have a new PC with viewsonic lcd display which uses the ATI DRIVERS. i want to install FC5 as a dual boot and i have completed installation of FC5 but after rebooting i'm only able to view the console wen i switch to gui mode using startx command it is showing nothing but a blurred pattern

can any one help me with this as i'm new to linux

I can't remember if during the install you had a chance to set your monitor, but you need to alter the vertical refresh to around 70 hz or what ever your monitor specs say..Most LCD's can't use the very high V refresh that CRT monitors can..I guess you would have to edit you xorg.conf file under the monitor section but let someone more knowledgable than me guide you as to how to do it..
