FC5 NFS sharing?

So, I've used FC4 and have been able to use the command exportfs, to see the current shared files of the server through the NFS protocol. I have a share in my /etc/exports folder, and I'm pretty sure I have all my packages installed in order to share folders through NFS.

The command in FC5 doesn't seem to exist. Take heed though, I'm rather new to Linux so I might be missing something. I've done automatic updates through the GUI wizard on KDE platform, so I think I have all the updates. I also installed all the server packages (Networking, Samba, Apaache, etc) when I did the initialize install on the system.

What my ultimate goal of doing is sharing out through an NFS file share, the files for FC5 install CDs, so I can do a network install. It's a project I'm doing for my network class

I've been able to start the NFS on the FC4 distro, but one problem I did have there was getting the NFS protocol to allow people to connect to it. I believe i ended up having to use the command on the CLI: rpc.nfsd in order to allow computers to mount the directory. From there, the installation was rather simple, and even was able to direct it at the kickstart file.

I'd like to figure out how to do a PXE install also. Setting up my linux box to be a DHCP server, and then directing any PXE requests at the NFS share to start installing the FC5 distro, with the kickstart file being the default platform for the install.

If anyone has information regarding how to setup PXE DHCP servers, and really, just basic DHCP server setup. I'm pretty lost on this concept. Not sure how to write the scipts exactly in order to get the server working. But if someone can direct me to the package I need to isntall to get this "exportfs" command to work on FC5, I'd greatly appreciate that also.

Cheers,
-Kazul

have you installed the "nfs-utils" RPM?

maybe your firewall is not allowing this connection? check your /var/log/messages.

If it's not that then you might have to look at /etc/hosts.allow

maybe this https://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/twiki/vi...LinuxChecklist and this will help http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedor.../msg03561.html

I'm pretty sure I have Nfs-utils package installed.

I ran: yum install nfs-utils
from command line and it said "Nothing to do". I'm guessing that means its already been installed. Under my system services, I only have nfs, not nfsd. I'm pretty sure my firewall is off, so I'm allowing anyone to see my machine on my network. I even ran system-config-nfs and could see the share I wanted. But it's still beyond me why the command 'exportfs' isn't working. I have yet to actually test the NFS share because my other Linux system is down at the moment.

Any other suggestions?
