FC5 Clock Problem

Hi In my Fedora Core 5, My Clock time is different. It means that it shows the clock time 5 hrs earlier than the current time. For example, the current time is 12:45 pm, so my FC 5 clock time will be showing 7:45 am. If somebody can help me, I'll really appreciate it.

It's the forever problem your machine clock is set (for example) to show your local time. Linux, on the other hand, might have been adviced to show UTC time, or vice versa (you use UTC time and Linux is adviced to use local time), so basically it works correctly (counts the right number of hours from utc to your timezone) but you've just either set your timezone wrong or are using localtime when should be using utc or vice versa.

Check out your timezone settings and whether or not your clock has been set to use UTC time. I'm pretty sure that fixes it. On dual-boot systems with Windows/Linux it's a common problem, Windows uses some time and then you tell Linux to handle it differently (i.e. use some local timezone, but Windows uses utc) and if you set time to a correct value on either OS, the other displays it wrong. The answer is to make sure you know your timezone and all your operating systems are configured to use utc or localtime, and that in the latter case timezone is correct.

I do find this a bit of an irritant. I think make sure you don't set the time to hardware clock.
