FC5= Sound but no music !!

System sounds work perfectly. But when i tried to play mp3's, no matter which music player i use it doesn't work. It just says- 'nautilus stopped' or 'stopped'. I am not sure about the spellings though. Even tried a video DVD but no success. Help out guys !!

Have a look at this thread. Same distro, same problem, with resolution.

Thanks for the reply Cammori.
That seems to be a really old thread. I couldn't conclude anything. I don't think that FC5 can't play mp3 by default. C'mon they can't be that stupid.
Anyways i am looking forward to more solutions.

FC5 does not play mp3 in the default installation (legal reasons). However, it is very simple to go to freshrpms.net and download the plugins. Noatun is the default player in Gnome, and, to be quite honest, it's pretty useless. You will have much better luck with Rhythmbox or mplayer.

Hope this helps,

Bob

Perseverence is necessary in Linux, but it definitely pay off in the end. If something isn't working, do something else.

Glad you got it going.
