FC4 Test 1 No C compiler

I've been trying install some more programs and WMs in Fedora Core 4 Test 1 but It doesn't think I have a C compiler installed.

Code:
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.
I'm not very familuar with editing config files but it doesn't seem like I should have to considering I simply installed FC4.
Thanks

FC4 includes gcc 4 I believe.

Though I would still think a gcc check should be fine.

Just do gcc -v on the command line.

All else fails, locate gcc...

You did install the tools for development correct?

You should be able to yum install gcc and it should gather the necessary pieces. Though you may have to do that for all the devel-libs as well.

the command gcc doesn't exist so I'm guessing I didn't install the development packages. I just used the command "yum install gcc" and it downloaded and gave me the following statement
unsigned package cpp-4.0.0-0.37.i386.rpm
I retried ./configure and the same thing happened
