FC4 - KDE "Could not start kdeinit..."

I'm getting an error messege in both 'root' and my 'user' account, "Could not start kdeinit. Check your installation."? The system then boots into a session after selecting "OK".

Can anyone gie me some ideas or thought on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Have you done any recent changes to your box? Like upgrading stuff or something? Also, what version of KDE? What distro?

And just as a friendly advice... never ever dare use your root account like if it was a user account.

Okay, so let me get this right... you uninstalled kde and then reinstalled? Hrmmm... not sure the need for that. Also, when doing something like this (for whatever reason), you should also get rid of temp files and whatever file at home linked to the previous kde. The good news is that maybe you can fix this, tha bad news is that you might need no uninstall, CLEAN, and reinstall KDE.

By the by, you seem to be using the standard KDE provided by red-hat (which sux big time), if you are serious about using KDE then you should get your hands on the KDE provided by kde-redhat project. Visit kde-redhat.sourceforge.net for more info on this.

Can I delete everything in /tmp? and I don't understand what you mean by "...whatever file linked to the previous KDE"?

"The good news is that maybe you can fix this, tha bad news is that you might need no uninstall, CLEAN, and reinstall KDE."

So where do I start??

I was able to resolve my problem but am not quite sure what the fix was.

I uninstalled KDE then re-installed it,

#yum remove KDE

#yum install kde qt arts kdelibs kdebase gtk+ gtk2 redhat-artwork
