Fc4 Dual Head Question
 

I'm running FC4 with two separate video cards: an Nvidia G-Force AGP and and an old Matrox Millennium PCI. I had to set my BIOS to boot up with the PCI first, then kick in the AGP card. That got my 2nd card to come up in Fedora. I seem to have it running, except i cant USE the other desktop. I cant seem to move my mouse pointer to it, and i cant drag anything to it. So, i have double the real-estate, but with an invisible wall that prevents me from getting to the other half of it. Does anyone know how i can resolve this issue? Did I forget something or do something wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You have configured the default X dual head version. This means you are running two seperate x sessions.

I think you can get the mouse to hop from one screen to the other using x2x.
However, you will not be able to drag between the screens.

Normally you only have one screen :0.1, now you have a second one called :0.1

To run applications in either screen you'll have to pass the -display <DISPLAY> parameter.

In other words, your second monitor is really only for things you specifically want to run off your main desktop. Perhaps you want to run games or movies there?

You want: Xinerama.
In Xinerama mode, you'll probably prefer the nvidia card to run screen :0.0 since only the first screen had DRI support.

If the nvidea card will run two monitors by itself, you are strongly urged to use this one with TwinView.

I agree. Just use the one video card (agp) and run twin view.

Look under your display properties because it could be that you don't have activated the option for spanning across two monitors. If you're running gnome its under Desktop/system settings/display i think.
