FC4 ADSL setup problem
Hello,
I've just installed FC4. I have an ADSL connection using a Lucent CellPipe Modem connected to the PCI Realtec card, everyhing went fine, when I used System Tools -> Internet Connection Wizard. It seemed that the ADSL connection was configured properly, it accepted changes and gave me an information that I should "rstart network services" etc... But the problem is that when I resterted FC4 i ran into a problem because it tries to bring up ADSL link, but withaout succes, it goes from the graphical loades to the text loader at this point for some seconds and then goes back to graphica, system starts without problems, but actually there's no ADSL connection triggered. When I use Internet Connection Wizard ADSL starts withou any hassle... So, what could be the problem..? Thenk you in advance, |
Is your modem setup to autoconnect?
|
What do you mean?
In a hardware sense, bo. Fedora should trigger an ADSL connection, but somehow it doesn't. I did't have that problem on Knoppix nor Slackware, though. Any idea? Is there any other "manual" way 2 set auto connecting at boot? |
The modem needs to be setup to "connect on data" or somthing similar. Checkout the documentation for your modem.

1.-erase your actual internet configuration
2.-Asumming you have a user name and pswd to use your broadband: a.-Open a terminal (being user) type su - enter b.-type your root paswd enter c.-type adsl-setup d.- read carefully, the first thing is to write your username (of your broadband service) enter + pswd for the service provider enter e.- 2 DNS numbers to write: 200.33.146.217 (enter) and the other: 200.33.146.209 enter f.-Use your intuition subsequently. |
