FC3

I just installed FC3 and ran up2date. After the update finished, X/Gnome locked up. I rebooted.

After rebooting... I have been unable to start X/Gnome.

I changed the runlevel to 3 and it booted just fine. I logged in and attempted to run startx and the same thing happened. Basically I'm just getting a bunch of vertical lines of various colors (mostly green) whenever I try to start X.

Anyone have any suggestions?

FYI: I did try and boot into the kernel originally bundled with FC3 and that didn't help.

I had a similar problem but it was corrected after the initial update which included xorg. Are you sure that xorg was updated? Did you try updating via yum?

What should up update in yum?

yum update xorg didn't work
"Count not find update match for xorg.
No Packages marked for Update/Obsoletion"

Sorry... I'm just not familiar with yum.

I tried just "yum update"... but that just updated php
yum install *xorg* didn't seem to fix it either

It would be named x11.
do a yum update x11
