FC3-Stable Can't burn CD's in Kde, but can in Gnome

WHY!!!
why is it that you can burn Cd's as user in Gnome and not in Kde using K3b, only
burns in Root and it still has problems with burning at faster speeds.
My burner is a 40 speed and I can only burn at 18 speed in k3b as root.
I'm still convinced Redhat hate's Kde.

I did a default install of FC3 and the eject for my cd-r didn't work. After running up2date this morning it now works. K3B didn't recognize my cd-r, not suprising because the kernel is >2.6.7 and K3B was ~.14. Another thread directed me to the RH server http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu....17-1.i386.rpm and there was .17 . So I downloaded the rpm installed it and K3B now recognises my cd-r and ,yup, it writes to the cd-rw disk that I tried.

Sorry mickeyboa,

Didn't mean to hijack your thread and I didn't answer your question either. I was just so excited to get my burner up and running that I didn't pay attention to where I was posting. Guess I should've started my own thread. I am also using Gnome. Anyhow, when I first installed FC3 I found my unusable burner a deal breaker and was close to reinstalling FC2.

Cheers.

Thanks Flysideways.
That rpm made a big difference, still can't burn as user but work great as SU.
What I still can't understand is why it was not in the stable release.

Thanks
Jim
