I've recently decided to change to Fedora Core 3 after becoming very frustrated with Mandrake 10.1's screen resolution problems. I've recently installed the speedtouch drivers for the Speedtouch 330 (Silver) USB Modem via http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/ and I can create an ADSL connection with speedtouch-start. However, Fedora Core fails to recognise this connection, and when I look at the various internet settings, I only see an option to connect via Ethernet.
Can anyone help me by telling me how I can get fedora core to use this modem as the default internet connection? Thanks in advance.
Well, I've decided to run Speedtouchconf to install teh package, and while it all runs well and the firmware is installed, there are one or two problems.
The following files cannot be found by the SpeedtouchConf script (v. 25b-02-2005):
/etc/init.d/speedtouch
/etc/rc.d/init.d/speedtouch
/etc/resolv.comf
/etc/ppp/resolv.conf
The lack of /etc/init.d/speedtouch or /etc/rc.d/init.d/speedtouch service means that the ADSL connection cannot be started at bootup.
One other problem comes with the testing of the connection. I can connect to the ISP alright, but when the script pings www.google.com, it instantly fails, saying "The Network is unreachable".
I'll just do another run now and post what the console shows.
Here's the console output. I've highlighted the keyerror lines in red.

Looks like /etc/ppp/resolv.conf is wrong.
You need to check the DNS configuration.
Look in /var/log/messages to see if DNS was configured.

You can still stop and start the interface with
/etc/init.d/speedtouch stop

You are now connected. There is no need to run this
speedtouchconf.sh script again.
Congratulations.
