FC3 Slow on Everything!

OK its probably something everyone has heard before but this is my system specs ::

=----------------------------------------------------------------------------------=
Motherboard :: Intel D915GAV
Video :: Onboard Intel 915(Uses the lovely i815 driver)
Sound :: Onboard Whatever
Memory :: 1gig Dual Channel DDR 400
Processor :: P4 3.0ghz
HardDrive(s) :: 3 SATA 160gig and 1 CDRW/DVDROM IDE
=----------------------------------------------------------------------------------=

I've downloaded FC3 in ISO format and went ahead to burn the CD
Right off the bat iv'e noticed the system hanging on /sbin/loader while it probes for and loads modules.

After about the system hanging for about 10 minutes it finally mounted the cdrom and loaded anaconda.

I proceeded to partition the harddrives utilizing a raid 1 on sda and sdb and just a journalized ext on sdc.
The install process went painfully slower then my other FC3 installs, and tried checking random bios settings to determine if that was the cause, all appears to be well.

After the install was finished Grub loaded from the md0(the raided /boot) and proceeded to the kernel decompress. Iv'e noticed the colors missing from the loader(which is a known issue with i810 drivers and FC3). I'm not too worried about this at the moment, i'm more worried about the fact that it takes approximately 6minutes and 32 seconds to load the system(yea I was bored and decided to break out the stop watch)

After X11 Loaded I chose the session to go to XFCE and noticed even the streamline desktop was unbearably slow. After the system was left for about 30 minutes I decided to return to see if it ran any faster(maybe the raid was reconstructing itself and eating memory while doing it), but still in the same state I left it.

Iv'e tried setting the video drivers to vesa(generic) to see if the system would speed up, no go. Iv'e as well passed the noaccel option to xorg.conf, still nothing. So im stuck trying to setup a server that runs as fast as my P133 box(thats not an exaggeration, my debian box loads about the same!)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

*Also a final note is I actually stepped down to install Mandrake 10 on this computer, it ran like a spanish race horse on steroids.

Its 1gig of RAM as mentioned in the bios and cat /proc/memtest

The cpu usage is very spiked.......60% up to 99% and so on

After doing a ps -aux nothing out the ordinary appears

Doing a cat /proc/memtest will show the total mem at 1gig, and that only 200meg is free! :P

Also noticed the swap space not being used, but thats not as big of a deal as it used to be

For those of you who are reading this post and have an onboard Software/Hardware raid controller with SATA(software assisted controller), try updating your bios with the latest firmware.

Iv'e noticed a couple of my newer boards that are not true hardware raid and support SATA have some sort of transferring problem. After updating my bios this has taken care of all my problems. FC3 Is working like butter on mash potatoes now
