Fc3 Oo2 ?

Hi,

Hopefully someone will be able to help me here - I need to upgrade a production server's OpenOffice, from it's current version (1.3) to the latest available on OO's website.

The server is running FC3, I've checked and FC3's latest OO package is still version 1.x

Any ideas on how to upgrade it to the latest version ?

By "upgrade" I mean to upgrade it to the latest version, and also updating all links on the Gnome's menu to that latest version.

Some of you will realize that this can be tried out by myself on a test server. Unfortunately, internet access is VERY expensive here (so it's hard for me to download huge packages over and over again to test this), and at the moment there's no test server available to me to try this out :(
There's not even a server available with enough memory to spare to setup a (now free) VMware server on it.

So I'm hoping that there's someone on this LQ crowd that's already updated his/her FC3's OO installation to version 2, and is willing to share the information to me.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Harry

Uninstall all OOo 1.x packages. After that download the OOo 2.x tarball from openoffice.org and then unzip it. After that change into the RPMS subdirectory of the unzipped file and do
Code:

#rpm -Uvh *.rpm desktop-integration/*redhat*

Thank you redazz :) wow that was quick.

OK, it'll take me several days to download OO2 tarball, so probably I'll only be able to let you know of the outcome by the end of this week.

Thanks again!

My friend asked that she did this, so I gave the URL to this post.

Good news, she just informed me that she has managed to upgrade OpenOffice to the latest version, using reddazz's instruction.

Thank you very much for your information.
Well done.
