fc3 bttv: Do I need to recompile kernel?

I read a post that bttv drivers are no longer included in the kernel. The hardware brower does not find them, and /dev/video is not found. Will I have to recompile to view my tv card?

what post was that? I can not imagine a time in the next 5 years when bttv wouldn't be included... does a "locate bttv" find it? /dev/video is actually a v4l (or v4l2) created node, whicih is the code interface between the bttv driver and the system. so you ned a chain of bttv AND v4l2 to get it working.

[root@localhost ~]# locate bttv
/usr/share/doc/xawtv-3.94/README.bttv
/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/v4l2/bttv.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.ko

After carefullly reading the post the bttv driver is not included in the enterprise edition (RHEL 4)..

Does the above mean the drivers are installed?

Thanks
Vince

yep, they're there. just try a "modprobe bttv" and you should be up and running.
