fc26 -> fc29: Java app "NighVision" can't start

Hello,

I recently moved from fc26 to fc29 and now when I'm attempting to start a Java program
"NightVision" I'm getting the following error:

Code:
<localhost>.../some_dir>/home/user/nightvision/NightVision
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
Caused by: java.awt.HeadlessException
        at sun.awt.HeadlessToolkit.getScreenSize(HeadlessToolkit.java:284)
        at com.nvastro.nvj.Nvj.<clinit>(Unknown Source)
The currently installed Java packages:

Code:
<
<localhost.localdomain>.../some_dir>rpm -qa | grep java
java-11-openjdk-headless-11.0.2.7-0.fc29.x86_64
java-11-openjdk-11.0.2.7-0.fc29.x86_64
tzdata-java-2018i-1.fc29.noarch
java-openjdk-10.0.2.13-7.fc29.x86_64
java-1.8.0-openjdk-headless-1.8.0.201.b09-2.fc29.x86_64
javapackages-filesystem-5.3.0-1.fc29.noarch
java-openjdk-headless-10.0.2.13-7.fc29.x86_64
javapackages-tools-5.3.0-1.fc29.noarch
Any ideas?

TIA,
kaza.

Fedora 29 : NightVision works OK with the Oracle java 1.8 : jdk-8u202-linux-x64
jdk-8u202-linux-x64.rpm
https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/j...s-2133151.html

Download ... and install :
Code:
# rpm -Uvh --nodeps Downloads/jdk-8u202-linux-x64.rpm
Setting up jdk-8u202-linux-x64 :
Code:
# /sbin/alternatives --install /usr/bin/java java /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_202-amd64/bin/java 2000

# /sbin/alternatives --install /usr/bin/javac javac /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_202-amd64/bin/javac 2000
Select version :
Code:
# /sbin/alternatives --config java

Thanks knudfl, it worked!

Except I downloaded not the rpm but the tarball of the Oracle java after reading
that on some systems it broke things.

And I also noticed (when configuring) that in addition to Oracle java
I had 3 more versions of it:

Code:
<root localhost.localdomain>.../root>alternatives --config java

There are 4 programs which provide 'java'.

  Selection Command
-----------------------------------------------
   1 java-openjdk.x86_64 (/usr/lib/jvm/java-10-openjdk-10.0.2.13-7.fc29.x86_64/bin/java)
*+ 2 java-1.8.0-openjdk.x86_64 (/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.201.b09-2.fc29.x86_64/jre/bin/java)
   3 java-11-openjdk.x86_64 (/usr/lib/jvm/java-11-openjdk-11.0.2.7-0.fc29.x86_64/bin/java)
   4 /home/user/install_sources/jre1.8.0_202/bin/java

Enter to keep the current selection[+], or type selection number: 4
Thanks, again,
kaza.
