FC2 freezes on boot "setting hostname"
I just installed FC2 (64 bit) on my Uniwill N258KAO (Ibuypower Battalion S-Turbo) and well...the install went fine. When I boot, GRUB goes on ok, i press enter to boot FC2, it starts to boot, the graphical boot screen comes up, about 2 seconds later the status bar freezes, i cant move the mouse (or touchpad) anymore and above the status bar it reads "setting hostname" i have it some time, still nothing. It is a hard core freeze. Anything I can do about it?
here is some info about my system if that should help: Uniwill N258KAO: AMD Athlon64 3200+ 512mb PC2700 Kingston Hitachi 60gb 7200rpm hdd. (made dual for FC2 and XP Pro) Gigabyte GN-WPEAG b/g wifi 15.4" WXGA @60 mhz |
once you get to grub, select FC2, press e. Now, delete the text "rhgb" from the text that appears. Hit enter, and it should boot without the ugly grey graphical info. You should just see a list of things scroll by, saying things like "Starting cups [ OK ]"
Where on this does it freeze? Let me know, I'll get back to you. The other thig you could try is pressing I to enter interactive startup when it says: Welcome to Fedora Core Press I to enter interactive startup accept the defaults until you get to networking. Use a bit of common sense to work out which questions relate to the hostname. Once past that section, hit C to boot normally from that point. |
ok, i removed the little quiet setting thing in GRUB and the system booted up no problem without having to do interative or anything of that nature. It now works...that was pretty stupid  but thanks for the help.
Now i gotta get everything set up....wine...wifi...ect...ahh..the joys of linux |
