fc12 startup application not working

i just installed fedora 12 and got conky working like i want. i created a '.conkyscript.sh' in my home folder to run conky that looks like this...

Code:
#!/bin/sh
sleep 15 && conky
then i went to 'system' -> 'preferences' -> 'startup applications' and created a startup program like this...

Code:
name: Conky
command: ~/.conkyscript.sh
comment: Conky Desktop Stats
i can run '~/.conkyscript.sh' from the terminal and it works as expected, however, after logging into gnome, conky never appears to load. what am i doing wrong?

Why didn't you just put conky in the startup program in the first place . I don't see any necessity to make a shell script just to run one application.

i originally saw a guide about this that said to use a startup script that you could specify a timer in to allow X to fully load before running 'conky'. whenever i put 'conky' alone in the startup applications it does appear to load just after login, but whenever the panels and icons load, it seems to disapper.

if i go to terminal and issue 'conky' again, everything loads as expected.

Well, I don't use conky so I can't say much about it. But if you need to load a script using startup application, then use full path, not ~/. Eg: /home/YOUR_USER_NAME/conkyscript.h
I don't know why ~/ won't work, but I have a script in startup application as well (too load pidgin, browser and stuff at startup) and the above method worked for me.

i found that you are right, truongan, that is the way to get startup applications to work, however, it didnt fix my problem. i can still issue /home/myusername/.conkyscript.sh and it works fine, however, this in my startup applications list does not work.
