FC-2 DSL Settings configuration tips

while setting up DSL connection for FC-2 to start up at the time of booting, I observed that the screen goes blank after booting. It happens a couple of times. Then the GUI screen appears. I for experimenting removed the check box so that the ADSL connection will be started manually. The booting was OK everytime then afterward.
Hope somebody will be benefitted from my small information.

Was the adsl connection via ethernet or usb? What kind of modem? Which checkbox did you "remove"? (I suppose you mean, you "unchecked" the box.)

It's a worthy thought to share your success - however, it helps to provide as many details as possible so that anyone searching for the solution will find your advise.

You realize that FC2 is completely unsupported - even by the fedora legacy project. The project supports FC3&4 while 5&6 enjoy fedora.org support. USB support was good but annoying before FC4, for eg. So, anyone with FC2 problems is well advised to upgrade.

Regarding ADSL connection

Dear Simon,

I am sorry, I should have given more info in my early post. Actually, I am a newbie with the system so missing here and there perhaps. As to your question, no, it is not USB but ethernet card connected to adsl quidpro wireless router supplied by my ISP for broadband connection. However I am not using any wireless but it is firmly connected with my realtek netcard. Yes I unchecked the box which says that the connection should start at the time of booting up. I am at my office and using a winbox, so I am unable to give you the exact wording. However, I would like to inform you that I have updated my FC-2 to FC-3 by first yum upgrade yum and subsequently yum upgrade. It downloaded 196 files. The upgrade is fine. I heard there is some complain about new terminals not being opened due to udev problem but I have no such problem as such. Only point is to comment the lines of [dag] and [dries]. Only core, update and extra are fine. The dag and dries gave me lot of problem at my first go with the upgrade process and subsequently after commenting them, it was a smooth journey. Hope this will help my linux friends spread over the net.

Regards
