fam and umount says device is busy

Okay I have had about enough of this bug. Okay I mount my SD Card and get the images off of it. Then type umount /mnt/sdcard and recieve ' device is busy '. So I created a New Device Icon for it on the desktop. Mount it and then Right click and hit umount option in list and recive the same responce. What can be done to fix this without using -l in a shell to umount or killing fam and restarting.

Never had this problem under Redhat 8.0 and 9.0. Fedora Core 1 and 2 have never worked right for umounting devices.

Here is the funny thing Hard Drives mount and umount fine. CDROM, DVDROM, DVDRAM, USB Media devices all are busy when unmounting. By the way the Hard Drives are SCSI.

Current setup
fedora core 2
full updates with Apt and Synaptic
kernel 2.6.9-rc2
kde 3.3

Thanks for any help
Brian

I think it's a kde bug because I had a similar problem with my usb hard drive. If you go into kde control center>System>kde performance and lower the preloading from 1 to 0 it will probably stop doing it. Having an instance of konqueror preloaded makes kde continuously pole a usb mass storage device for updating resulting in a device busy error message when you try to unmount.

Thanks kilgoretrout, that works for me. I also got a responce from a friend that says he turns sig_fam off. That works as well for me.

Again thanks for all your help.
