"Failed to create mad element; check your installation

That's the error message I get when I try to play an MP3 in Rhytmbox. This is proving to be very annoying, I've been trying all day to figure this out, I installed all the gstreamer stuff and all the mp3 plugins, but it won't work!

Any ideas? Please?

I get this same exact error. I have been searching the web off and on for a couple of days and have yet to find a solution. That's a shame, rhythmbox looks neat.

You need the mad plugin for GStreamer at the very least. It is available by itself here.
