Failed Ethernet

Hi,
I just tried Fedora Core 3 on a Toshiba M45 notebook which has a MarvelŪ 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet as well as built in wireless Intel adapter.
The problem is first that I cannot get the basic ethernet detected for my DSL.
There is no option for my ethernet in the internet connection wizard with device 0 or 1 not being found. How can try and resolve what seems a hardware detection problem and is there some way to manually edit this? I'm thinking that maybe i should have disabled acpi on the install.
thanks
