Fail to pair bluetooth keyboard on Fedora 23

I recently bought a HP Bluetooth Keyboard K4000. However I'm having trouble pairing the devices to my fedora 23 system.

I couldn't get it working using the gnome bluetooth fronend. It just said fail to pair with no other information. So use the bluetoothctl via:

Code:
[bluetooth]# trust 08:B7:38:14:A2:3C
Changing 08:B7:38:14:A2:3C trust succeeded
[bluetooth]# pair 08:B7:38:14:A2:3C
Attempting to pair with 08:B7:38:14:A2:3C
Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed
Does anyone have any suggestion I can use to get my keyboard to work in Fedora?

Thanks,

gerb

I suggest: Either brilliant experts on this side solve it with you within 3 days or hand the keyboard back quickly.

To my notion: Bluetooth sometimes, like from my mobile to my computer, just does not work. It works the other way around though.

If you do it in time you can save the money and get another nice keyboard which more likely works.

Regards, Arne Matthias

Wink Re: Bluetooth Keyboard pairing with F23.

As it happens I have an old Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse here, and have recently installed F23 workstation on an older machine.

I am not generally fond of the growing propensity to over-depend on wireless connections, however sometimes the added reliability and other complications are worth it, so I use wireless as a last resort.

Likewise, I never regarded a Laptop as one's best first or only computer. they are fragile, excessively hard to repair (having taken one apart first hand and been eventually able to repair it and get it working).

Having had a couple of Android devices, I don't want another hand-held, more than a hardware basic old cellphone.

At age 71, my physical coordination is on the ham fisted side, and that has been medically diagnosed ad unfixable.

If I am going to use a computing device on the road, I want to sit down, and have a decent size screen, a decent size keyboard and trackball (I am also not fond of mice or glidepads).

I think it is too bad that manufacturers of keyboards and mice cannot make their devices with an integral jack instead of a wired-in cable, which is often, but not always, too long. I would prefer to get my own cord independently (or they might supply a standard cord in the box, as long as the connector to the mouse or keyboard is standard and not of proprietary design, and not as small as a micro USB, which I find too small not to be excessively fragile.)

Long wires are an invitation to wire tangles!

For the short term, I am using a trackball which I have cut the cord and reattached a male, full size, male USB connector, resulting in a new length of about 15 inches.

In the longer term, I am building my own mouse, a highly specialized electronically modularized joystick.

It is to be housed in an aluminium box 7" X 10" X 2" high, and will integrate with the customized KVM switching arrangement I mentioned oin a previous post.

The buttons will be made to be near user replaceable, and the actuators made of metal for long durability.

It will connect to the switching arrangement using an integrated DB9F connector, to which the Switching arrangement will not only supply +5 volts, but+12 volts and +24 volts, at the same time handling the data conductors.

On be rear top is another switch to a second DB9F to which a standard USB mouse or trackball can be attached via a simple adaptor cable (DB9M to USB type A Female), allowing another person to operate the computer(s) using a standard mouse or trackball when needed.

Speed control and more will be hardware implemented so it will work with any operating system that can use a standard USB mouse, and even during any stages of an installation that will support, even minimally, the use of a mouse.

This also includes some BIOSes, such as on the Asus Maximus 6 Gaming motherboard.

(I am not a gamer, but given the money and demanding uses gamers put computers to, this makes for good high-end hardware on the market. Asus has recently come out with their "TUF" line of motherboards, which at first look look like a good option for high-end, non-gamer users.)

Next year, I may buy a custom assembled system with one of these boards. I let the vendor install the processor,. Motherboard and RAM, as the cost of installation, to me is an insurance premium to guarantee against the 2% possibility of encountering a defective major part, as those 3 items make up the majority of the cost of a new system.)

Lightbulb From WayneXia's reply to mine:

[quote] from WayneXia:

"Hi,
Have you finished adding a guest (KVM) to a network? I follow the KVM HOWTO.
But unfortunately it doesn't work at all... Can you give me some advices?

Thanks"

=====================================

1) The Customized KVM is not really a single device, but an inter-related part of a much larger master project.

2) It is primarily a hybrid of low voltage electrical and electronic devices, and also requires a lot of custom mechanical work to accomplish. As such it is a part of the ongoing master project.

3) I have my own at home shop which is able to allow for electrical, electronic, wood, metal, plastic and more in terms of development.

As a retired electronic technician with over half a century of very diverse experience, yet retired, I am busier ongoing than when I was in my working years.

This likely is a very different approach to the KVM challenge than most would want to get into, bit can have spin-offs tghat may be of value to some, especially in respect of persons who may have some degree of physical disability, especially of the small motor coordination type.

I, myself have some degree of small motor coordination difficulty, yet have always been good at adapting and diagnose/troubleshooting situations.

I do not hold any University degree, and am about 95% self-taught, much from hands-on personal experience and experimenting.

Unusual as this may be, given the large number of people here, the odds are that some may be of notable interest to this, even if they are a small minority.

That subgroup is, in fact, a group of specialized needs themselves, who may be languishing, unknown and un-responded to.

Time will tell, so I am also watching the number of reads and other responses this gets per unit time.

If this interests, by all means speak/post up in more detail.
