Hi i have a Dell Inspiron 6400 Win Vista Home Premium. I installed Fedora 7 a few days back, and had trouble with it and came to know about the Dell bug. I resolved it and it was workin fine til yesterday i put my vista CD in and clicked Update My Computer.. After an hour or so it failed. and wen i restarted i saw my comp startup with Vista straightaway and the F7 boot menu never came. im unable to start F7 plz help soon :(

Your the one that allowed Vista to overwrite the bootloader without warning or being given any choice. Boot with the Linux installation media into rescue mode, answer a few questions and review the on-screen messages. the one about using chroot is important, follow the instructions and when ready type something like;
/sbin/grub-install --recheck /dev/sda If your hard drive is seen as an IDE type drive then use /dev/hda instead, hint: fdisk -l |
Thanx
I read ur reply after i fixed it but thanx a lot :)

Hey hardik988 :) Did you get it to work directly from GRUB? I couldn't, i had to use MS Vistas boot loader? And what Bug man? I have the same laptop and now you got me nervous ::))
