F7, KDE, and ZynAddSubFX GUI problem
Is anyone using ZynAddSubFX on Fedora 7, and with the KDE desktop?
I have a bunch of distros running on this machine. FC1,2,3,4,5, and Fedora 7, plus Debian Sarge, Etch, and Lenny. I use KDE, and ZynAddSubFX has no problems on any of them except Fedora 7.
The problem:
I open Zyn on KDE, and it immediately consumes 100% CPU, and doing anything with it is extremely slow. For example, I press a key on the midi keyboard, and the note plays, but the blue bar on Zyn moves about 1 to 2 seconds later. It is extremely slow to close taking some minutes, unless I use the mouse pointer of death. The desktop isn't frozen though, as I can still open a terminal, make connections in Qjackctl, etc. The mouse pointer is a bit flickery though.
If I minimize it, the CPU cycles return to normal. If when Zyn's main window is open on the desktop, I click on the Synth edit box, then minimize Zyn, the child window opens ok, and there is no problem in editing the synths. The problem is only with the main window.
The problem only appears to be with KDE, as I logged out, and back into Gnome, and ZynAddSubFX seems to work ok there with no problems with the main window.
I do have other music apps on Fedora 7, and none of them have any problems.
Any suggestions anyone?
