F7 dvd boot - hangs after Loading initrd.img
I have downloaded f7 from both a mirror and bittorrent, same problem, burn to dvd. When I boot from the dvd I select Install ...(the default) and then get
Loading vmlinuz ............. Loading initrd.img ................. Ready and that's it. It just sits there forever. keyboard and mouse don't work. Mike |
How long did you wait for it to continue? What type of hardware are you running? Did you try different boot options?

F7 hangs on boot from DVD
Thanks for the reply. Currently FC6, which installed smoothly.
I used i386 iso image. The guide doesn't mention HT processors, but I was surprized to see that Dual Core needs to X86_64 image. Hardware is a Dell Dimension 5100, Pentium 4 HT, 3.2GHz, 1Gb, single SATA disc. smolt stuff is here f7906cbb-d621-4944-8064-768a7c5d10dd I waited several minutes (at least 10) after the 'Ready' which only took a few seconds to boot to. I tried text mode as well as graphical mode. I have turned off the other SATA and PATA devices which are absent. Any ideas would bmuch appreciated as I am eager to see F7. Mike |
See if in the BIOS you can set your SATA disks to "legacy" mode if they aren't already.
Also, there are other options you could play around with when you boot the DVD that might help. |
Thanks for the advise. The legacy setting did the trick. It's called 'combination' in this BIOS.
By the way; as in another post, FC6 complains that it can't find SATA2 after 30sec, even though it is turned off in the BIOS, but this isn't a real problem. Thanks again. Mike |
