Everything looks good, but no printout.. Fedora, Samba, etc
Guys,
This is maddening. I know I'm almost there, but I'm missing something. I have three machines on my network.. two XP and one Fedora core 3 server (kernel 2.6.12-1.1381). One of my goals is to setup a print server for the XP machines. I have SAMBA installed and running correctly (I have five directories on the server mapped as shared drives on XP.. no problems). I can browse these directories from the XP explorer.
The problem is my printer. I have an HP officejet 5510 (all-in-one) connected via USB port to the server. I can print to it locally just fine. Printer has been added to my smb.conf file as follows:
[Printers]
comment = All Printers
path = /var/spool/samba
browseable = yes
writeable =yes
use client driver = yes
Printer is viewable to the XP machines, and I can add them as networked printers in XP. Printer status is shown as "ready". I have sent simple text files to the printer from XP, but I get nothing. XP shows one print job in queue, and it goes away after a minute or so, but the printer just sits there. What am I missing here? This should work.
Thanks for your advice..
