Even after following the Flash guide, I still can't use Youtube on Fedora 14

I did ALL and EVERYTHING it asked me to, even used both 32-Bit and 64-Bit. I even tried Gnash and install every plugin I could find, even the extras. Nothing works. What do I need to install in order for it to work? Can someone make an .sh file with all of the necessary commands for doing so or copy and paste them here for me? Once again, the Flash guide made it load, but it said it was missing MP3 Codecs and stuff.

What is says

The following plugin is required:

"H.264 decoder"

Do you want to search for this now?

When I select search it says

"Could not find plugin in any configured software source"

Following it is...

The following plugin is required:

"MPEG-4 AAC decoder"

Do you want to search for this now?

Same thing as what happened the first time, it couldn't find it.

Lastly... "MediaHandlerGst::createAudioDecoder: Couldn't find a plugin for audio type "audio/mpeg! --
MediaHandler::createFlashAudioDecoder: no available flash decoders for codec 10 (Advanced Audio Coding)"

Following is another

"Couldn't find a plugin for video type video/x-h24! Please make sure you have gstreamer-ffmpeg installed."

It redirects me to a Fedora page

What you're looking for may be here: http://blog.tuanmuda.com/fedora-14-p...allation-guide

First, enable restricted repositories. Then follow sections in Video codecs, ffmpeg and dvd & video players.

One of the links in it were dead and didn't work. Everything BUT the Video codecs and ffmpeg worked. Is the source outdated?

theif519 05-23-2011 09:15 PM

I meant "One of the links is dead" by one of the repos I unlocked were bad. Perhaps that was the same one with the codecs. Either way, I can't do anything flash but I do have the basic applications they said to install. Also, the Gedit thing didn't work either

You might want to look here, further down in the thread: http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20609

Which version of fedora are you using? 32 bit or 64 bit?

theif519 05-24-2011 05:13 AM

Actually, I looked for another post installation guide and it worked, must have been some syntax error in the coding of the one you sent me. I got all of the codecs and Youtube works now... but nothing else does. Also, the only reason why it work was that when I tried to play it, it had to search for a plugin in which it could find. Why can't Fedora 14 use Adobe Flash Player? Why does it rely on Gnash? How come Ubuntu comes with it?

north49er 05-24-2011 10:30 AM

Are you using ubuntu? If so, the ubuntu forum would be a better for you as this is a fedora linux forum.

fedora will NEVER ship with proprietary multimedia codecs. NEVER !!!

fedora will ONLY ship with opensource programs .

so for media
using Dangermouses "autoten" is an easy option
or fallow Mjmwired's help page

BOTH of these are linked to from fedoraforum
http://www.dnmouse.org/autoten/
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f14.html

It is NOT A opensource program !!!

fedora also DOSE NOT use Oracle’s java
but an opensource rebuild

No, I'm not using Ubuntu on this laptop, but I have Ubuntu on my desktop, in which I was referring to.
