Ethernet

Hi,

My PC was installed RH 9.1, it works fine with the ethernet. After installing FC5, the ethernet does not work anymore. The ifconfig displayed eth0 without IP address. Where the eth0 script started from? I've checked with sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0, it specifies the good IPV4 ip address, but the eth0 did not start from that script. Which eth0 script should I edit to run the eth0?

Thank you.

Jim

Check /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

In FC5 "/etc/rc.d/init.d/network start" will start the network configuration and
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart" can be used to restart the network and
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/network stop" will stop networking.

it did not pick /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 as well. I've tried reconfig eth0 to a fixed ip address, the ifconfig displayed eth0 was fine now, but I could not ping any IP address of my network. Seems the FC5 got problem with my Ethernet card SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (it was working with RH9). Does anyone know this problem?

Thank you.
