eth1394 module

I try to add firewire networking. In Debian i did "modprobe eth1394", added an "eth1394" entry in /etc/modules.conf and then an "ifconfig -a" showed me that it had been added. In Fedora "modprobe eth1394" command is executed OK, but "lsmod | grep eth" gets me with nothing. I thought the module existed by default. Do you know maybe an RPM, which i have to install? I found nothing about this on Fedora 4.
Thanks

I found the following:
/lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1398_FC4/kernel/drivers/ieee1394/eth1394.ko
That means that the driver exist, but for some reason "modprobe" cannot load it. Which reason could that be?

I managed to load it -the ieee1394 module- in the Fedora 4 PC, but i cannot see any "ethX" with "ifconfig -a", althought i do see an "ethX" interface in my Debian PC, which has also a firewire pci, configured for firewire over ethernet.
Has anyone had anything similar? I mean something, like loading the modules for an NIC, but not seeing the "ethX" interface.

Found it. The way to do it is recreate an initrd image, although that doesn't seem logical, because initrd is used only for booting. And also the module exists in the kernel.
