Am running Fedora 9 in VirtualBox. Am having problem trying to change directories. My root directory shows to have four entries, Administrator, Bill, Linux_work, and user01. I can Linux_work and user01 by the command cd / but when I try to cd /administrator or cd/bill I get the message "no such file or directory". Probably a very simple beginners mistake but it is driving me up the wall trying to figure it out. Why can I get into two of the directories and not the other two? Help please!

As Nylex said, check if you are using the correct case. By the way, if you are using Fedora 9, your shell has to be bash, type the Tab Key twice to get the suggestions.
