Error: Missing Dependency: libdts.so.0 is needed by package mplayer

# yum install mplayer

Error: Missing Dependency: libdts.so.0 is needed by package mplayer

That's all I get with Fedora 7. I've tried everything under that I can find on similar threads and various Google searches. I'm suck'n air. I've disabled Freshrpms.repo and still can't install mplayer without getting the missing libdts.so.0 error. I'm ready to reinstall, if would be faster then beating my head against the wall all day long on my Saturday.

odd, that dep is filled by libdca-0.0.2-3.lvn7 which is also in livna as you can see by the name. do you have the livna repo set up correctly? to get around this specific one you could just directly download it from livna, but i guess this *might* be the first of many if the repo isn't set up right.

wheh! after removing and and reinstalling livna-relase-7 and going back to another similar post.

Quote:
I had the same trouble (libdts etc).

I made sure I had the "livna" repository enabled, then:

% yum remove x264 libdca faad2
[ libdca & faad2 were installed as ".fc7" versions ]

% yum install k3b-extras-nonfree
[ ended up grabbing things mostly from Livna ]
I still don't know what broke it in the first place, but it's working now. Sorry for the bother.

Check in /etc/yum.repos.d for a file called freshrpms.repo
If it is there open in a terxt editor and see if this line:
enabled=1

If so change it to :
enabled=0

What happens is you get some packages that are from livna and some from freshrpms, and the freshrpms packages do not match for dependencies.
Turn off freshrpms for general use so it not interfering with livna.
Occasionally if you do need a specific freshrpm package you can not find on livna, temporarily enable it.

in this case the dead giveaway is if you do yum install or update on something, and see items with different (more than 1 repo) repos named for the packages you likely have a conflict.

Same here (FC7) ... problem solved with removing two non-livna packages:

Code:
# rpm -e --nodeps faad2
# rpm -e --nodeps libdca
# yum update
The freshrpms repository was enabled here, too - disabled it now.

Just another helpful thread :-)

Ciao, Meph
