Error: Another application is running which is accessing software information

Hi, I hope this is the right place for this question. I wasn't able to find help elsewhere for this problem. Here it is: I get this error whenever I try to update the software or install automatically retrieved software. There is no other software running as far as I can tell. I didn't have this problem when I installed fc5. What's going on with this and how do I fix it?

Not sure if this is the only problem, but I've seen this (or something very similar) just after booting FC6. What is happening is that there is a process that runs just after boot/logon which goes out to the network and looks for updated packages. If there are any, it gives you an opportunity to download them. However, there is no obvious indicator that it is running...it just locks up the update service for a few mins after boot/login. I have to admit that I haven't actually bothered to chase down how it works, so I can't give you more than this, but if the problem occurs immediately after booting, try "ps -ef | grep yum", and you'll see there is an active process. Wait till it goes away, or kill it ( ) and try again. If the problem happens at a different time, then its different to what I've seen, but you could still try the "ps -ef" command, it'll show you what is running and what has grabbed the updater
