Downloaded the RPM drivers for a ET-2550 off epson.com and installed the Printer-drivers and scanimage drivers into Fedora 27 without any problems, from what I can see it installed them in the /opt directory.
But Fedora wants to select a Gutenprint driver for a Epson-Stylus , Adding printer in setup does not show a ET-2550 in the table , how do I get it to select the ET-2550 driver in the /opt directory ?
I don't own Epson hardware, but in an effort to assist I took a look at the 'epson-printer-utility-1.0.2-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm' package, and the 'epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.6.19-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm' package. I guess you're using the 'system-config-printer' utility to configure CUPS? It has an option to 'Provide PPD File' manually, rather than selecting from various models (which it assumes are all located in /usr/share/cups/model/). Anyway, you should be able to navigate to /opt/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr/ppds/Epson/Epson-ET-2550_Series-epson-inkjet-printer-escpr.ppd.gz without issue.
FWIW, I find it easier to use CUPS web interface fro printer management...
I don’t know which printer setup utility you’re using. I assumed it was system-config-printer, but maybe something else? Try configuring via the CUPS web interface perhaps. I don’t know what your Linux skills are like, but you could also locate the ppd file and copy it to /usr share/cups/model/ so that your utility can find it perhaps, or link the directory there.
