"Enhanced" CDs refusing to eject.
Not sure if anyone else has come accross this one.

I'm having a spot of bother with CDs in Fedora. To cut a long story short, it refuses to let me eject "enhanced" CDs. By that I mean the ones with data tracks on them.

I can play them just fine, and Grip can read them and rip them. I only get the problem when I try to eject them.

Right clicking on the Icon on the desktop and clicking "eject" gives a failed eject message. Pressing the button on the front of the tray gets me nowhere. I can't mount them in the first place, so trying to unmount from a commend line just gives me "not mounted". Basically, the only way to get the disc out of the drive is to reboot the machine. Pretty annoying.

Regular audio CDs with no data tracks work fine.

Incidently, I don't think this has anything to do with copy protection. Some of these disks are pretty old (1996 in the earliest example), and predate all of that nonsense, but one thing they do all have in common is that they auto play when inserted in a windows machine.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm only too happy to hear them.

Thanks in advance.

Very odd. I thought fedora core auto mounted, if so why are you trying to "umount" these CDs? I would have said it was a permissions problem but you say that regular CDs mount and eject fine. Please clarify what these "enhanced" CDs are, are they audio or just data CDs?

They ar audio CDs with a data track on them . Typically a video of some sort. If you put them in a windows PC or a Mac they auteomatically run a program to play the video.

Yes, Fedora is supposed to auto mount and unmount CDs. but it is not doing.

no ejecting
I also have the same problem in fedora 3, I right click on the cd icon and it shows a error message
"unable to eject', This is a temporary solution that works for me,I right click the cd icon and after the
error message then I press the eject button on the cdrom and it opens up, it works for both audio and data cd`s
I`am working on a real solution...I read somewhere that the cdroms, cdwritters etc. have to be configurated as
scsi devices ??.
I`am working on it.
