Exactly because of this opinion it is a good idea that the more popular distributions don't permit a root login to the GUI.

If you harm your machine it is of course your thing, you decided to do it, and you are free to do what you want with your machines. But your freedom ends when you expose other machines to a risk. And that is what you are doing, when you do everday tasks, like surfing the net, as root.
You may want to read my posts in this thread to see how you may harm other machines (and annoy people) with a behavior like that.

to add to all the good advice above
for some distros like fedora using that pam and gdm hack DOSE cause things in gnome ( as root) to not work right
as a normal user a pop up window " pops up" asking for the root password ( one exception is nvidia's tool from the .run or rpm driver)

if one logs in as root to gnome that pop up might not pop up
then EVEN THOUGH ARE ROOT the program will not authenticate - so it will not run

also there is NO NEED to even loggin as root
EVERY gui can be started as root from the terminal !!!
nautilus , gedit , gimp ,... everything !

so there is NO NEED to use that hack .

I would use it ONCE then undo it .
But ONLY to set the root desktop ( fedora 15 - gnome3 ) to something very VERY VERY different that my normal user .
That way if i DO NEED to use nautilus or gedit as root ( can be handy at times ) I know by a quick look that I AM ROOT and to CLOSE OUT ROOT when i am done

Now all of this can also be done and NOT use the pam and gdm hack ,but not as easy.

But new users are told very rightly to use " su" & "su -" or " sudo"

and they SHOULD listen

I don't know what is a shorten link, but you can put that blog link in your signature, no one will complain then, I feel.

Putting blog links in the post is considered a form of advertisement especially if done more than twice or if a thread is created solely for linking the blog, like you've done now.

Secondly, if you are keen on helping people through your blogs, then you can paste your blog contents in your:

That's Good Idea, Actually I have already put my link as my Home Page URL, For Blog I will post the same content here as blog selection without any links of My Blog, I think because of Doing this there will be a no issue with anyone.

Your LQ blog is none of anyone's business. You can put there your blog links if you want (considering they are decent).

No I have not place my blog link into signature, I have placed it as my home page. When I joined LQ i have placed my link as my signature but due to objection of Moderator i have removed it.

I don't like to create issues at all, I just believing in sharing and posting and trying to help somebody as much i can, But people feels it like advertisement, SO its ok i won't post links anymore not even on LQ blog because it I'll post it over there and again some moderator or any member raise the issue then its very irritating for me, So I have decided not to post any links of my blog even it is helpful to somebody, As my blog is already available by all search engine so if anybody tries it by search engine they will get it.

Posting useful blog links in the "signature" is NOT an offense. Even the ex-mod Pixellany used to have his VERY useful blog articles linked up in his signature. Many senior members still continue this practice (i.e of having useful blog links in the signature).

Linking "commercial" sites may create problems though, I am not sure.

Exactly, They found it commercial so they have objected.

But Leave it now i am aware of it. I will purely post contents here no links at all specially not my blog links :)
