empty desktop after a crash

Hello!

I had FC4 running pretty well on my laptop (ASUS A2500D). But today the laptop probably get to hot, and wanted to halt.

After a reboot (I was waiting for some time, to let it become colder) my desktop was empty, right click on it doesn't work. I can not start Nautilus neither.

Actually this last thing (Nautilus) is not really true. I click on it, it starts loading, but it doesn't draws a windows although I can find it under the "system watcher".

Could anyone help me?

Viktor

Ah, the good ol' buggy Gnome. The best way to fix this is to delete your hidden files that stores gnome configurations at your home directory (something like /home/viktoranagy/.gnome2 or .gnome). Next time you login, Nautilus should be reset to default, exactly as the first time you've logged in.

The drawback is: you will have to reconfigure your desktop, like common shortcuts and setting up you background again.

This usually fixes this problem. Rants apart, it's about time to make nautilus stable...
