Easy RPM Creation

I've written a free software that makes the RPM creation process incredibly simple and just want to spread the word.

I believe that one of Red-Hat/Fedora's main drawbacks is the complexity of their packaging system. I also believe that a developer should not have to devote a ton of time to learning how to package their software for the distribution they would like to support.

Hence, Togo; an open-source, free software I wrote to greatly simplify the process. Please check it out if you think it would be of use to you:

The value of Red Hat / Fedora's packaging system actually shows whats lacking in other distributions. Also it could equally be reasoned what people mistakingly perceive as "complexity" is their lack of knowledge or responsibility to do things as things should be done.

I started crafting RPM packages a long time ago and the questions starting packagers ask on LQ clearly show that any shielding, anything making the process simpler or easier should be strongly opposed: read, practice, succeed. No shortcuts.

Your opinions are appreciated, but unnecessary; this post was made to help people that are seeking it, not for those who aren't.

If you're happy with your RPM build methods, or are simply opposed to altering them (for whatever reason), then Togo is obviously not for you.

My Background:

It was my responsibility to convert and package third-party software and installation processes into RPMs for the Administrative Office of the U.S. District, Bankruptcy, and Appellate Courts.

I've dealt with all levels of complexity regarding the RPM creation process and found great value in writing software to largely automate that process.

I'm simply attempting to offer a helpful alternative to those who are looking for one.
