DVD playing and burning

Hi all

errr i am a little confused on this one

I am running fedora core 3
i have an NEC DVD burner in my machine

i seem to have issues with DVD's genrally

firstly it wont play

I have installed pretty much ever DVD player i can think of

ogle
Mplayer
Xine

xine wont open a DVD
ogle seems to play sound if you skip all the menu's and pick a chapter
mplayer wont play the DVD at all and just makes the most horrendus high pitched noise when i try and no picture

If i try and open the mount to view files it just shows me a blank folder???

i seem also to be unable to burn DVD's

I have tried

k3b and nerolinux (i am running gnome) which burned without error and the picture works but no sound when played on a seperate player

I am sure i remember it used to put an icon on the desktop when i inserted a CD it seems to have stopped that now???

I am running the latest kernal and all files are the latest version (from yum)

anyone got any ideas on this one?

Thanks

Dan

You need to install libdvdcss to play encrypted dvd's. I am not sure what could be causing the burning problems.
