Dual Head on FC5 with nVidia
okay so i just made a fresh install of Fedora Core 5 on my computer. i have a nVidia GeForce 7900 gs and i installed the driver for it acording to the stanton and finley fedora core 5 installation notes. (i cant post URL's because this is my first post but just google "Fedora Core 5 Install Notes")
i want to set up dual heads, one is a Dell 1905FP and the other is a Sony CPD-100SX. every time i try configureing it though when i try restarting X it reports a bad configuration. so it makes me a fresh one and if i configure it for reagular single head it works fine. how do i configure it for dual head?

Try using my xorg.conf as a template for yours just changing the parts of your file that is needed. This is setup for two separate displays so you need the Load "xtrap" to enable the mouse to move between the two screens to find the BusID look into your /var/log/Xorg.0.log it will show you a line similar to the below. The Screen 0/1 in the driver section tells X that you are going to be using the separate ports the 0 port is usually the bottom port on the card this would be the one that should be connected to the first monitor (Monitor0). If this is not enough post the xorg.conf you are trying to use so we can see it and maybe the log I mention file as well you will need to put this on into two post it is pretty big.

ok so i tried configuring the xorg.conf similar to how your did it. the mouse will move in between the two screens now but i get an error on one screen that says KDE crashed. The Sony CPD-100SX (the CRT) is working but it is set for 1280x1024 and the Dell 1905FP is the one recieving the error. below is my xorg.conf file

ok so there is an update here. i rebooted and now KDE doesnt give me an error. instead.... the dell 1905fp starts up with really bad picture. it has a toolbar at the bottom which has the fedora menu, home and the browser(konquerer nor mozzilla as should be). then it has blank space for about 1 or 2 icons and it has the multiple desktop panel.the only icon onthe desktop is the trash. i still cant bring windows from one monitor to the other. the sony cpd-100sx looks fine still besides the 1280x1024 rez when it should have 1024x768.
edit: i did switch the monitors to different ports here, upon switching them back the kde crashes on the dell monitor. im pretty sure it has somethign to do with configuring the CRT properly. in windows CRTs generally take precidence as monitor 1 unless u do some fansy stuff

You should comment out the Load "dri" and the part at the bottom of the file with it as well and use the same type of sever layout I have putting RightOf on the second line (Screen 1) and make sure you have the 0 0 after the Screen 0 and you do not need the ViewPort part in the Screen section also can your post the Xorg.0.log I mentioned earlier.

You have the resolutions for the display size I changed it for the Dell as that shows up in the log and put back the refresh rates because those are there as well try the above file.

i tried that configutation. when i ended the sesion it wasn't able to start X. ill post the log files later.
