dual boot xp and fc4

hello,

I am trying to set up a dual boot of xp and fc4. I already had xp installed. I partitioned the hard drive and installed fc4 in the free space. fc4 now works fine, but xp won't boot. I installed grub into the MBR.

here is the partitioning scheme:

[root@localhost evan]# /sbin/fdisk -l

Disk /dev/hda: 40.0 GB, 40007761920 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 4864 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 2 16033+ de Dell Utility
/dev/hda2 * 1487 4864 27133785 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda3 1232 1486 2048287+ c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda4 3 1231 9871942+ 5 Extended
/dev/hda5 3 15 104391 83 Linux
/dev/hda6 16 1231 9767488+ 8e Linux LVM

and here is the interesting parts of grub.conf:
#boot=/dev/hda
default=1
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,4)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title Fedora Core (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4)
root (hd0,4)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb$
initrd /initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.img
title winXP
rootnoverify (hd0,2)
chainloader +1

any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

try adding;

makeactive

after the chainloader line.

Also if winxp is on /dev/hda2 then the rootnoverify line should be

rootnoverify (hd0,1) instead of (hd0,2)

Peace V
