Dual Boot Fedora and XP???

Hello,

I'm in the process of converting an IOpener to run linux but until i finish i want to set up a dual boot machine on my exisitng computer which is runnning Win XP pro. I have successfully partitioned my drive and installed the latest version of Fedora on my drive following all of the recommendations in the linux installer for running another OS with linux, but i cannot get grub to initialize, its as if I never installed linux at all.. my system just automatically boots to win XP everytime! I formatted the linux partition and tried again this time setting linux as my PRIMARY OS, still boots straight to Windows. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks for your help.

Where do you install the bootloader to? It should go in the MBR.

try something slack-based like Vector, slim, should run well on that hardware. I had the same issue with my 2nd-string IBM 300PL with 550mhz P3. But I installed vector with out any issues, it uses LILO. Also check the bios. Maybe something in there is weird.

thanks

Ok i uncovered switched my HD setting in my bios to LBA instead of auto and it worked great... accept now when i try to load WIN XP it gives a chainloader error. Is my xp install gone or can i change some settings in grub under OS "other" (the name of my XP instal) so it will boot properly? Also, i did set the bootloader to MBR. thanks for you quick replies.
