driver not loading...i think

I recently compiled a new kernel (2.6.11.7) for myself since I do not want to use the 2.6.5 kernel that comes with FC2.

The computer has 2 serial ata disks as the hard drives mirrored via a PCI RAID card. The problem is that everytime you recompile the kernel the driver has to for the RAID card has to rebuilt from the source code.

So I rebuild my kernel and compile the driver source no problem. I copy the compiled RAID card module to /lib/modules/2.6.11.7wfs/kernel/drivers/scsi
Then I run the command

Code:
/sbin/mkinitrd --preload scsi_mod --preload sd_mod --with hptmv /boot/initrd-2.6.11.7wfs.img 2.6.11.7wfs
no error messages are given.

When I reboot the machine i get the following error.

VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

my guess is it is not loading the raid card since it is appearently not finding the hard drives.

is there a way to check and make sure the driver is loading at start up?

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
