Downloading DVD.iso of FC2 problem?
I'm trying to download the DVD iso of Fedora Core 2 using one of the mirrors from the www.fedora.redhat.com site but when I click to "save to disk" and it starts downloading it says its only 74 MB instead of 4GB as shown on the web page. Anyone else run into this? I've tried a few different mirrors but get the same thing each time.

Try using one of the FTP sites with an FTP client. I believe browsers have trouble with files that large.

Ahhhh, good idea. I'll give it a try in a while.
Thanks, it was either too early or too late for me to be thinking outside the box.

I ran into this too, even some Windows-based dedicated FTP clients (CuteFTP) seem to want to use U32s to store file sizes. Turns out the DVD ISO is around 74 MB more than 4 GB, and hence it gets reported as 74 MB when the client can't handle more than a 32-bit size.

I am DL it now, I am using Windows XP to get it (I don't want to hear it). I am using the cmd version of ftp and so far I have about 200 MB down, so I think it is working.

shelby, glad to see you got it working.
I believe I used a program called SmartFTP (in XP) to download the DVD ISO, and it worked just fine. Figured I would pass this tidbit of info on to you guys in case people are still having trouble finding a way to download it.

I'm guilty too, I switched over to WinXP and am using SmartFTP to download the DVD iso. It's at the 2.3GB point now and still going strong so hopefully tonight I'll be able to burn and install it.

I downloaded the image with SmartFTP on my machine just fine and when I went over to my brothers house yesterday we were able to download it on his machine in WinXP Pro using CuteFTP.
The image downloads to the tune of 4.70 GB just like the size reading in the ftp tree view shows but it burns to 4.07 GB. I don't really know why its like that but thats what it was as I experienced twice.

I used SmartFTP on my XP partition to download it on 5/19/04 from a German mirror site @ ~350 kb/s avg. Completed in about 3 .5 hours. Burnt the iso file using Roxio and installed the entire distribution with no problems. Got to love the optical waveguide trans-Atlantic cable...

GNU/Linux can do it...
Hey guys,
I ran into this problem as well. wget didn't seem to work for me, curl didn't work, Firefox didn't work... I was getting pretty frustrated.
I finally tried Konqueror, and guess what? Working like a charm... I'm currently at 2.4 GB out of 4.1GB.
So, hats off to Konqueror.
