Downloaded Firefox....

I downloaded firefox, as the .tar.gz file Mozilla offers. I extracted the folder to the desktop and I can run the executable file from the folder.

My question is, in what directory do I put the firefox folder?

Thanks

Location of Firefox folder

Correct me if I'm wrong - it's my understanding that Firefox is a technology release , and it's quite happy to be located anywhere really.

Anywhere that you as a user have permissions, of course. I simply keep mine in a subfolder of my /home directory. Easy to find, when it comes time to clean house for version 0.9 whenever that comes around.

Firefox is my primary web browser these days. Nice piece of software.

Yes, it is my primary browser on windows.

Thanks, I moved it to me /home/ folder.

Your home folder should work. I put Firefox and Thunderbird in my /opt folder so others could use them on my computer.
